What Friendly actually is

Friendly is a social app for the people already around you — a neighbourhood, a residents' group, a college batch, a trade circle. You get a feed, chats, a connections list, events and notices in one place, instead of spread over four group chats nobody can search. It runs on Android, iOS, desktop and the web from a single build. It is not a point of sale; that product is Mandee.

Feed, chats and connections

The three core surfaces sit behind the bottom bar. The feed carries what a group is posting. Chats carry the one-to-one and group conversation. Connections is the list of people you actually know, kept separate from whoever happens to be posting. Because they share one account and one backend, a person you meet in a feed thread is the same person in your chat list and your connections — no re-adding, no parallel identity per surface.

Events, meetups and nearby

Events cover the ordinary case: someone proposes a thing, people say whether they are coming, and the details stay attached to the event instead of scrolling away. Nearby discovery surfaces what is happening close to you rather than what is loudest globally. The Meet surface is built for arranging the in-person part of it. Location and camera permissions are scoped only to the app screens that genuinely need them, rather than requested wholesale at install time.

Notices and find-work

Community notices are broadcasts, not conversation — a maintenance date, a lost dog, a change of venue. They stay legible because the reply thread does not bury them. Find-work is the other half: post a bounty or a small job to the people around you and let the ones who can do it answer. Both were built for how Indian residential and trade groups already use messaging, where the announcement and the odd-job request are the two things everyone scrolls back for.

Is Friendly a point-of-sale or retail app?
No. Friendly is a social and community app — feed, chats, connections, events and notices. The Tanvrit point-of-sale product is Mandee, which is a separate app with a separate codebase.
Which platforms does Friendly run on?
Android, iOS, desktop and the web, from one Compose Multiplatform codebase. The web build runs in the browser at friendly.mobi with no install step; the Android and iOS builds ship through the stores.
Do I get notified when something happens?
Push notifications are wired on Android through Firebase Cloud Messaging, including deep links into the relevant screen. iOS push handlers are not live yet — on iOS you see new activity when you open the app.
What is the difference between a notice and a feed post?
A feed post invites replies and is ranked with everything else. A notice is a broadcast to a group — it stays visible and does not get buried under a reply thread. Use notices for announcements everyone needs to see once.
What is find-work for?
It is for small, local jobs and bounties posted to people nearby — the kind of request that usually gets lost in a group chat. You post what needs doing and people who can do it respond, inside the same app where you already know the participants.
